Trip FAQ’s
What will we see?
Join your guide for a full day visiting the land and sea of Acadia National Park. Each day is planned based on tides and your group to make the most of your day. Your tour will include short hikes at iconic destinations such as the Thunder Hole, Bubble Rock, and Jordan Pond. Alternatively, your group may opt for a longer day hike such as the Ocean Path Trail with breathtaking views of the rocky Maine coastline. Along the way, your naturalist guide will share stories of Acadia and indigenous history, explain its natural features, and share information about its flora and fauna.
Will my tour run?
For an authentic and personalized experience, our small-group tours are limited to 8 guests, and require a minimum of 4 guests to run. You’re welcome to book solo or with a small party. If we fall below the minimum spots booked, registrants can opt for a private tour or receive a full refund—offering flexibility for your adventure plans.
When & where will we be picked up?
Pick up time: Refer to the designated start time listed when you booked your trip. Your stop may be anytime within a half hour from that time. Your guide will message you 1-2 days in advance to confirm more precise timing, which is based on the number of folks in the group and their pick up locations.
If you are arriving from a cruise, please note that you must be on shore by 8:00 AM and will not be guaranteed back until 4:00 PM. Please ensure that your timing work with these parameters.
Pick up location:
First stop – Under Canvas Acadia, 702 Surry Rd, Surry, ME 04684
Second stop – Balance Rock Public Parking (paid parking) – 22 Albert Meadow, Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
Can we adjust the start time or trip length?
We will stick to our pickup time and trip length for our small-group tours. For a fully customized trip, we recommend considering our private tour options.
What do we do for lunch?
Please pack a lunch to bring with you. Your guide will choose the perfect spot for a scenic picnic. We’ll also have snacks and a selection of beverages available, but feel free to bring along any personal favorites you might crave during the day.
What should I bring?
Reusable water bottle, sunscreen, day pack, layers to adjust to changing temperatures, camera, packed lunch, snacks, gratuity for your guide.
Are there age requirements?
They say age is just a number and we (mostly) agree! However, group dynamic considerations, we do have a minimum age of 8 on our small group departures. But there’s no maximum!
If you have someone under 8 in your group, we can accommodate all ages on a private adventure, so let’s talk!
Do I need to tip my guide?
Tipping is a common way to say thanks to your guides for all their hard work. While it’s never expected, it’s always appreciated! A good rule of thumb is to tip 10-20% of the total trip cost, split between the guides. Ultimately, the amount is up to you and should reflect the level of service you feel you received. Whatever you choose, the guides will appreciate it!
