When is the best time to visit?

The summer is the best time to visit Mount Rainier National Park. It’ll be the warmest and driest months, and all entrances of the park should be open!

What will the weather be like?

During the summer months temperatures can get into the 70s, however evenings can still be very cool, especially at elevation. 

What highlights might I see?

Mount Rainier itself is truly a highlight. You may see glaciers, expansive alpine meadows full of wildflowers, beautiful PNW pines, and so much more.

Will I see wildlife?

The Cascade mountains are full of wildlife. You may see black bears, red foxes, fish, snakes, and so much more!

Should I combine this trip with another National Park?

If you have time, add some days on the Olympic Peninsula or in North Cascades National park.

Are there any entry regulations I should know about?

Yes! Mount Rainier is implementing a timed entry system for both Paradise and Sunrise entrances. Be sure to plan ahead and secure these permits in time.
