Olympic FAQ’s

Your Trip Questions Answered!
When is the best time to visit?

It depends on what you want to see! The spring will boast the biggest waterfalls but the High Country will only be accessible during the summer months. Yosemite Valley is accessible year-round.

Be sure to review all of the information on a trip page before booking and reach out to hello@goodtripadventures for more information if you need it! We really, really, really love talking about our trips in case you didn’t realize that yet.

What will the weather be like?

During the summer months, temperatures in the valley can climb into the 90s and evenings will stay warm in the 50s. Spring and fall will boast the most comfortable temperatures, however snow is very possible – even late spring and early fall. Evening temperatures will drop into the 30s.

What highlights might I see?
  • If you’re visiting the valley, you’ll see 3,000 foot granite walls, beautiful valley meadows, incredible wildlife, and unique flora and fauna. You may even get to see rock climbers scaling the several-thousand-foot cliffs. If you visit during the spring snowmelt, you’ll see incredible waterfalls surging over granite cliffs and plunging down to the valley floor.
  • If you’re visiting Yosemite High Country you’ll be greeted by incredible views of massive granite peaks that surround you. You might meander through high alpine meadows with beautiful wildflowers or gaze into crystal clear alpine lakes.
  • You may want to head south as well to Mariposa Grove. Here you can gaze upwards at the Giant Sequoias – the largest living organism on the planet. These trees can only grow under very specific conditions, so it’s always extremely special when you get to witness these beauties.
Will I see wildlife?
  • It’s very likely you’ll see some wildlife while you’re in Yosemite National Park! You may see bears, bighorn sheep, and so much more. Be sure to look in streams and lakes for trout too!
Should I combine this trip with another National Park?

You may want to consider visiting Sequoia and Kings Canyon as well. At only 2.5 hours away, these parks are always worth visiting.

Are there any entry regulations I should know about?

Yes! This summer you will be required to have a reservation to access the park. However, the regulations vary month to month, so be sure to look at the park service website.
