When is the best time to visit?

What will the weather be like?

May through September will oftentimes be very warm and humid, so be sure to pack plenty of water. October has the best fall colors. You can expect snow and icy conditions in the park during the winter and spring months.

What highlights might I see?

You’ll see stunning views of the rolling , streams teeming with life, beautiful and unique wildflowers and fungi, and so much more.

Will I see wildlife?

Black bears, white tailed deer, and several different species of salamanders call this place home. During the spring, unique blue fireflies found only in this region light up the forest floor.

Should I combine this trip with another National Park?

You could combine it with Shenandoah or Congaree National Park, however the Smokies are huge so you can spend a lot of time in the area!
